Ms. Crawford is the driving force behind the organization and fills the President/CEO role. Ms. Crawford designed the program based upon her own life, as she grew up in poverty; she was an at-risk youth; she has been homeless, and she has been a domestic violence victim and almost kidnapped 2 times. In spite of the disadvantages she faced in life, she continued to propel upwards. It is now Ms. Crawford’s passion to assist others in the community who are victims of a similar fate. She inspires individuals by telling her many stories while providing the life-skill and career training workshops.
Ms. Crawford has a background starting when she was just 13 years old, she started volunteering in the retirement homes, elementary schools and helping people as they chose to pass over at home with in-home services. From 2004 – 2008 she volunteered after school every day at elementary schools. She also volunteered with the special need’s children and adults. She educated herself on various walks of life.
Our mission is to provide after school activities, tutoring, food, clothes, shelter, counseling and life coaches/mentors for children from the ages of 5-18. Our long-term goal is to provide a safe place for children to go whenever it is necessary, and provide them with anything they need even if it is as miniscule as needing a piece of paper. We want to show the children in our community, that there is more to life than what they may see on television. We believe by introducing them to various careers and successful people in numerous fields, that they will see that they too can achieve what they want to be in life. Our organization will be able to support a child in every scope of need. Food will be provided every day to children who participate in the after-school program, which will be the start of everyday. Afterwards, tutoring will be provided outside of homework help. Students that have gaps from the instructional day, will be provided extra help to achieve grade level standards; a key aspect that distinguishes our non-profit from others. Any student at or above grade level, will be provided homework assistance when necessary. A key goal is to ensure the mental stability of children, so they will meet with the counselor for assessments. If there are no pressing situations that need to be addressed, then they will enroll in the big brother/big sister mentor program. Every child will be provided a mentor. In addition, our company will provide any child who is suffering from in-home trauma, to obtain shelter and counseling with a signed consent from a parent/guardian. Providing clothing for children in need, is yet another facet of our non-profit. Our goal is to provide a safe haven services for children, to decrease the number of troubled teens, battling with mental instabilities. We want to increase confidence, drive, self-motivation, and college success rates, while lowering food insecurities. Surroundings, impact behavior significantly. We know if we start when they are young, then we can make the largest impact when they are older by allowing them to be their best, due to our love and positivity. We know it takes a long time; however, they are worth it. Eventually we will produce singers, rappers, managers, athletes, teachers, judges, and doctors etc. They will come back and tell their stories, which will encourage our children to grow even more.
